Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is a common virus that most people are exposed to during their lifetime and which can remain dormant in the body afterwards. This test measures the amount of EBV genetic material in the blood and may be used by your healthcare practitioner to help monitor viral activity, particularly in people with weakened immune systems or where ongoing EBV-related illness is being assessed.
