Left untreated, both infections can lead to serious complications, including reduced fertility. Chlamydia can infect the urethra, cervix, rectum, anus, throat, and eyes, while gonorrhoea commonly affects the genitals, rectum, and throat, particularly in young adults aged 15–24.
