Thyroid Function
TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) helps assess thyroid function which plays a vital role in regulating metabolism, mood, energy levels, and menstrual health. Early detection of thyroid imbalances, even in the absence of symptoms, can prevent complications such as fatigue, weight changes, fertility issues, and mood disturbances.
Full blood count with differential
The full blood count is used as a broad screening test to check for such disorders as anaemia (decrease in red blood cells or haemoglobin), infection, and many other diseases. It is actually a group of tests that examine different parts of the blood. Results from the following tests provide the broadest picture of your health.
The full blood count measures:
Iron Studies
Iron deficiency is the most common nutritional problem in Australia. It slows your body’s production of haemoglobin, which your red blood cells need to pick up oxygen from your lungs and carry it to every cell in your body. If you have a shortage of iron you experience symptoms of anaemia, which include feeling breathless after little exercise, feeling tired, heart palpitations and looking pale.
Total B12 & Folate
This blood test helps identify nutritional deficiencies or absorption issues that may contribute to anaemia, fatigue or cognitive changes.
Homocysteine
Homocysteine is an amino acid that’s regulated by the body’s methylation process, which supports detoxification, energy production, and nervous system health. If methylation is not functioning efficiently, homocysteine can build up, which may raise the risk of heart and and neurological issues.
This homocysteine blood test measures:
Magnesium
Vitamin D
Vitamin D is essential for bone strength as it helps the intestines absorb calcium. Calcium and vitamin D play a critical role in developing and maintaining your overall bone health, and when you don’t get enough you increase your risk of developing osteoporosis and the incidence of stress fractures.
This vitamin D test measures:
Blood Glucose
Blood glucose is generated from carbohydrates and to use this fuel for energy your body needs insulin. With type 2 diabetes the cells either ignore the insulin or the body doesn't produce enough of it. Glucose then builds up leading to problems with the heart, kidneys, eyes, nerves, and blood vessels.
This blood test measures:
Inflammation
C-reactive protein is often the first evidence of inflammation or an infection in the body. Its concentration increases in the blood within a few hours after the start of infection or other inflammatory injury. ESR measures the degree of inflammation present in the body.
Liver Function (LFTs)
Your liver processes drugs and alcohol, filters toxic chemicals, stores vitamins and minerals, and makes bile, proteins and enzymes. This liver function test examines enzymes and other markers for evidence of damage to your liver cells or a blockage near your liver which can impair its function.
This liver function test measures:
UECs (Kidney Function)
Your kidneys filter waste from your body and regulate salts in your blood. They also produce hormones and vitamins that direct cell activities in many organs and help to control blood pressure. When the kidneys aren't working properly, waste products and fluid can build up to dangerous levels creating a life-threatening situation.
Selenium
Free Copper to Zinc Ratio
A high Copper to Zinc ratio is believed to cause a range of detrimental health effects including growth and mental abnormalities, increased age degeneration and increase oxidative stress and cardiovascular disease risks.
Cortisol (serum)
Histamine (whole blood)
Whole Blood histamine levels are used as a marker for methylation status, and to determine the presence of histadelia, or histapenia.
